Story

Halo 4 is an upcoming video game and the seventh installment in the Halo franchise. Halo 4 is intended to be the first of a new trilogy of Halo series games, named the “Reclaimer Trilogy”. Whereas the previous Halo games were developed by Bungie, Halo 4 will be developed by 343 Industries. The game continues some time after the ending of Halo 3, and marks the return of the Master Chief as the main protagonist. Cortana will also appear in the game.[5] The game will be released Q4, 2012.

“Forza Motorsport 4” is a racing video game currently in development by Turn 10 Studios for the Xbox 360. It will be the fourth installment in the Forza Motorsport series, and is scheduled for release in North America on October 11, 2011, in Europe on October 14, and the rest of the world on October 20. The game will be the first in the series to support the Kinect sensor alongside the traditional controller-based gameplay.

Gameplay

Players will be able to import their Forza Motorsport 3 profiles into Forza Motorsport 4, giving them the ability to transfer a certain amount of in-game credits and gifted cars into their new garage. The amount allowed transferred is based on how long they have played the game and how many cars and credits they have.

A video demo of the game showed that the player was able to look into a corner using the new head tracking feature, allowing them to see where the apex is, and the cars around them. Another new feature called Autovista allowed the player to walk around and explore inside their vehicle using Kinect. The player could point at certain features, such as headlights, wheels and the engine, for further information about them. The Autovista feature is not limited to Kinect users only, and is useable by a regular Xbox 360 controller. When using Kinect, the game will automatically accelerate and decelerate your vehicle, a feature known as “auto brake” in Forza 3, and the steering would be done by either a controller or by movement of the players hands. Whilst the game supports head tracking, players can use a controller and Kinect at the same time. Steering will be done by the controller and the Kinect picks up head movement. Kinect will also allow the player to use audio commands to start races and navigate menus.

Autovista was originally designed to allow players to get up close to cars within a sub six inch level, where brake pads, and small details became visible. Not all cars in the the game will support the Autovista feature, as it is primarily for sports cars, classic cars, and dream cars. The graphics used to create these cars are formed using image-based lighting which allowed the developers to create perfect reflections, and would better immerse the car in the environment both when racing on a track or in the garage or Top Gear gear studio when viewing a car.

Like Forza 3, there will be a career mode for players to complete, which sees players racing at multiple locations around the world. This is known as World Tour Mode in Forza 4, previously known as Season Play in Forza 3. However, one new feature that appears in Forza 4 is the game’s ability to adapt the difficulty as the player progresses through the career, and collect a trend of data to see how well they perform. This will allow AI drivers to change and upgrade their cars automatically to suit the player’s driving abilities. There are several types of races besides standard racing like in Forza 3. Forza 4 will include the original bumper to bumper races, but will also have Drift, Autocross, and multiple-heat races. Unlike in Forza 3 where players had no choice over which car they won at the end of each race, in Forza 4 players will be able to choose from three cars as a prize.

Super Mario 3D Land (スーパーマリオ3Dランド Sūpā Mario Surī Dī Rando?) is an upcoming platform game in the Mario series in development by Nintendo EAD Tokyo for the Nintendo 3DS, scheduled for release in November 2011. It was announced at Nintendo’s Keynote Conference during the 2011 Game Developers Conference held in San Francisco. While four screenshots and a tentative logo were initially shown, more details were revealed at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2011.

Gameplay

Super Mario 3D Land is a platform game that has been described by game designer Shigeru Miyamoto as a “3D Mario that plays as a 2D Mario game.” As such, Super Mario 3D Land combines the elements of traditional side-scrolling Mario titles, such as linear-based levels, with those of the modern open world Mario titles, such as moving Mario in three dimensions and performing a variety of actions.

Similar to the classic side-scrolling Mario games, the objective of each level is to reach and grab the flagpole located at the end before the time limit expires. Super Mario 3D Land utilizes a similar health system to those games, in which Mario shrinks upon taking damage from enemies or hazards, and damage while “small” results in losing a life. The game offers a number of traditional Mario items, such as the Super Mushroom, Fire Flower, and Starman, along with new power-ups that bestow a special suit onto Mario that grants him new abilities. Some revealed power-ups include the Super Leaf from Super Mario Bros. 3 which allows him to attack with his raccoon-like tail and float in the air, and the Propellor Suit from New Super Mario Bros. Wii which allows Mario to reach high places. Similar to the Super Guide feature in recent Mario titles, certain items can be made available if the player struggles on a certain level. The Shiny Leaf gives Mario invincibility and Tanooki Suit abilities whilst the P-Wing sends the player right to the end of the level.

Super Mario 3D Land utilizes the Nintendo 3DS autostereoscopic technology, allowing players to perceive depth when viewing the game screen. While the game is designed to not require the 3D effect, some obstacles or points of interest are deliberately more noticeable or easier when the 3D is switched on. Super Mario 3D Land also utilizes the 3DS gyroscope: a special binoculars item available in certain levels allow the player to view different areas of the level by controlling a first-person camera by moving the game system around.
Plot

A tree that stands on Princess Peach’s castle grounds is stripped of all its leaves during a storm. The leaves, which turn out to be Super Leaves, are blown across the Mushroom Kingdom, bestowing raccoon tails on all living things they touch. When Mario and the Toads go to inspect the tree the next day, they discover a letter from Bowser, learning that he has kidnapped Princess Peach. Mario sets off in pursuit to locate and rescue the princess.

Gears of War 3 is a third-person shooter video game developed by Epic Games and published by Microsoft Studios exclusively for the Xbox 360. Originally due for release in April 2011, the game was delayed and eventually released on September 20, 2011.

Gears of War 3 made over one million pre-orders and was one of the most anticipated games of 2011. It is the third installment of the Gears of War series, and the final game in the current story arc.

Gears of War 3, like its predecessors, is a third-person shooter that emphasizes the use of cover and squad tactics in combat situations. The player’s character can carry four weapons: one pistol, one set of grenades, and one assault rifle and shotgun, all which can be swapped with other weapons dropped by fallen foes or at stockpiles throughout the game. Most weapons feature a secondary fire mode; the game’s signature rifle, the Lancer, includes a chainsaw bayonet that can be used at close range to slice through enemies. When the player reloads a weapons ammunition, they have an opportunity for an “active reload”, shown by a small cursor moving over a line with a marked section on the player’s heads-up display (HUD). If the player hits a control button when the cursor is in the marked section, they will reload faster with the resulting reload being slightly more powerful than normal bullets. If they press the button outside this section, this temporarily jams the weapon, leaving the player vulnerable. Alternatively, the player can opt to not try to for the active reload, reloading the weapon at normal speed. At times, the player can carry a heavier weapon, such as a mortar or gatling gun, which slows their pace while it is carried.

When in combat, the player can take some damage from enemy fire, filling a blood-colored “crimson omen” on the HUD as a measure of the player’s health. By staying out of the line of fire, this will dissipate, but by taking too much damage, the player will become downed, and must be brought to their feet by an ally within a short “bleed-out” period, or else the player will die. The player can also be killed during the bleed-out by the use of an execution move by the enemy. Some types of damage, such as explosives or head shots, can kill the player immediately without the bleed-out period. Similarly, the player can also cause enemies to fall into bleed-out in the same manner. The player and their allies and enemies can use nearly any structure as cover, firing blind from behind it or leaning out to take aimed shots. Players can quickly switch between nearby covering walls or jump over lower cover to rush forward. Within Gears of War 3, some cover can be destroyed after taking some amount of damage, which can be used to a tactical advantage to draw out enemies from cover.

New to Gears of War 3 is the ability to tag enemy opponents; computer-controller allies will then concentrate fire on these marked enemies, while human allies will be alerted to their location on their HUD. Players can now also swap weapons and ammunition with other allies in the course of battle.

The player maintains an experience level that persists across all game modes. The player earns experience through kills, performing special types of kills, reviving and aiding teammates, and through general process of the campaign or competitive modes. Earning levels unlocks the use of special character skins and weapons within the game’s multiplayer mode.
Campaign

The story-driven campaign can be played by oneself but allows for up to 4 player co-operative play, with additional players replacing the computer-controlled squad members. Certain sections of the campaign require the squad to split up for a brief period, allowing the squad to approach a battle from two different fronts. Some sections feature the use of a vulnerable servo-assisted Loader to carry very large objects, requiring the rest of the squad to protect it, while others use a Silverback, a similar enhanced suit that is equipped with large weapons to fight back against the enemy locust and lambent.

Though the primary player controls Marcus Fenix for most of the game, some chapters switch control to Augustus “Cole Train” Cole, performing events that are happening simultaneously with those witnessed from Marcus’ point of view.
Multiplayer

The game features a competitive multiplayer mode, pitting 5 on 5 player battles using game types from the previous Gears games. Team Deathmatch gives each team 15 respawns for each round; a team wins by forcing the other team to exhaust their respawns and killing the remaining foes. Warzone and Execution feature rounds without any respawning, with Execution further requiring that the players must finish off their enemy with execution-style kills. King of the Hill requires teams to try to hold randomly marked points on a map for as long as possible, earning points to reach a target score first. Capture the Leader tasks the teams to locate and capture the randomly assigned enemy leader for 30 seconds, while protecting their own. A final mode, Wingman, pits 4 teams of 2 players each against each other.

The Horde cooperative mode, where players must survive increasingly more difficult rounds of enemy forces, has been improved from Gears of War 2. Kills in this mode earn the player money that can be used to improve their command post with barricades, decoys, automatic and manual turrets, and the Silverback mechanical suit. Additionally, every tenth wave features a boss character that challenges the team’s efforts.

New in Gears of War 3 is cooperative Beast mode, where the players play as the various Locust forces attempting to kill all the humans manning a command post across twelve rounds. Players are given a small amount of money from which they pay to spawn as one of the several enemies available. By breaking down the humans’ defenses and killing the humans, the players earn more money to spawn as stronger monsters.

The game runs on dedicated multiplayer servers due to fans complaining of several issues that hampered the multiplayer in Gears of War 2, particularly in terms of input lag and oftentimes that hosts of online games would have a significant advantage over other players in the game.

Need for Speed: The Run is a racing video game, the 18th title in the Need for Speed franchise, and is being developed by EA Black Box and will be published by Electronic Arts. The 3DS version is being developed by Firebrand Games, the team behind Undercover and Nitro (both DS version). It is scheduled for release in North America on November 15, 2011 and November 18, 2011 in Europe.The Run is the first title in the series to be rated T by the ESRB since Undercover.

The game is described as “An illicit, high-stakes race across the country. The only way to get your life back is to be the first from San Francisco to New York. No speed limits. No rules. No allies. All you have are your driving skills and sheer determination as you battle hundreds of the world’s most notorious drivers on the country’s most dangerous roads.”

Gameplay

In The Run, players will participate in an “underground world of illicit, high stakes racing,” in a race from San Francisco to New York, with stops through Las Vegas, Denver, Detroit, and many other locations, making it the first title in the series to use real locations. The cops aren’t the only ones after the player though, as the player “blows across borders, weaves through dense urban traffic, rockets down icy mountain passes and navigates narrow canyons at breakneck speeds.” There are over 300km of track, three times more than Hot Pursuit, making it the biggest Need For Speed game.

The Run is powered by DICE’s Frostbite 2 engine, making the game the first non-shooter and one of the first console titles to use the engine, which provides visuals and car physics that “hug the road even at top speeds all built around a gripping storyline.” Additionally, Need for Speed Autolog, the Need for Speed franchise’s social competition functionality, which was introduced in Hot Pursuit and was previously used in Shift 2 Unleashed, is also back as it will continue to track career progression and compare game stats.

The game features quick time events, with the player for the first time in Need for Speed history, exiting their car and travelling on foot. These events won’t always be about harsh success or failure states. In some sections there are branching outcomes, so if the player mangles a certain button press, they’ll get another chance to pull through

The driving model of the game is described as “sit somewhere between Shift and Hot Pursuit”, not as arcade-styled as Hot Pursuit. The Run employs a large range of real-world vehicles, seemingly taking in the usual mix of muscle cars, street racers and refined exotics, described as “each car presents a different driving challenge for the player.” Exclusively digitized for the game is the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S and the Pagani Huayra.

Street Fighter X Tekken (ストリートファイター X 鉄拳 Sutorīto Faitā Kurosu Tekken?) (pronounced Street Fighter Cross Tekken) is an upcoming crossover fighting game being developed by Capcom. The game was announced at the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con International by Capcom producer Yoshinori Ono. The game is set to release on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PlayStation Vita sometime in March 2012. The game will feature characters from both the Street Fighter franchise and Namco’s Tekken series. As the game is being made by Capcom, with Namco being involved more in the licensing of the Tekken cast, the gameplay will be based on the 2D gameplay of Street Fighter as opposed to the Tekken series, and will feature projectile moves such as the Hadouken. Namco is currently producing their own take on the crossover, Tekken X Street Fighter, which will follow their own style of gameplay.
